It's a case of going all the way from the Iveagh Rooms to the Iveagh Gardens for the Brilliant Trees who have been personally handpicked by Aslan to support them at their 'Made in Dublin Revisited' concert on 7 July.
This will be the first time that either band has played the Iveagh Gardens. Aslan will perform their most successful album in its entirety and will be accompanied by a string quartet, percussion player and keyboards for this very special gig.
The Finglas/Ballymun band insisted on the Brilliant Trees being their special guests for the gig because not only are they big fans of their music, but Aslan also wants to champion talented Northside bands.
"It’s our biggest show this year and it's outdoors. We wanted to have a Finglas vibe going and we thought straight away of the Brilliant Trees... from their single’s 'Home' and Talent', that band can write great songs. And they are back gigging, so it's a great opportunity to give them the big gig they deserve," Christy Dignam tells Hot Press.
"It's great to be playing such a prestigious gig as the Iveagh Gardens and we promise to make this a night to remember."
Brilliant Trees' lead singer Al Hoey tells Hot Press: “It’s a real pleasure to play with Aslan. I have early memories of when they played the Danceline venue in town, in the late 80’s. I remember trying to bunk in most Saturday nights. Our guitarist Tony Barrett was more than likely already inside.
"They were always the band to see live, and they were from Finglas. Then 'Feel No Shame' came out and blew us all away. The gig at the Iveagh Gardens, it will be like a celebration of the 'Talent' that keeps coming out of Finglas."
Brilliant Trees returned to the scene late last year after a 14-year hiatus with a brand new single and a re-release of their debut album, 'Friday Night', which was first released 21 years ago.
The Brilliant Trees, who sold out three shows at the Grand Social back at Christmas, are now back in the studio writing new material.
Coincidentally, the Brilliant Trees' song 'Talent' is 21 years old this summer! Here's the video:
