Sligo Summer Festival kicks off

Festival sees performances from Bressie, Kanyu Tree and the Saw Doctors...

In search of some free entertainment this weekend? Well get yourself to the Gateway City as Sligo is celebrating its 400th year of city status with a host of events and musical acts.

Bands in the festival's line-up include The Original Rudeboys, Bressie, Saw Doctors, Kanyu Tree, Choral Dreamscape.

Along with the free gigs in Stephen St car park there will be fifty brave souls swimming 10k in the cold waters of Lough Gill and a Raft Race Garavogue where families, friends and individuals are invited to make a raft and participate in the race.

The festival is on August 8 - 11.
