Fatboy Slim defends Electric Music

The superstar DJ has given his response to the recent trouble at the Swedish House Mafia gig in The Phoenix Park.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 11 Sep 2012

“I’m hoping it’s a one-off isolated incident,” he tells Hot Press. “It’s weird because dance music’s always had a bad reputation for people being high on drugs, but one thing about people being on drugs is that they tend not to fight or stab each other. They’re more into hugging each other and occasionally passing out. The last time they tried to ban us it was about making too much noise, keeping people awake and taking drugs and nothing to do with violence and in general I’ve never heard of trouble with violence at dance events. I remember doing that show in Marlay Park [in ‘09] and the atmosphere was fantastic. Likewise we had a quarter of a million people at Brighton Beach and that turned out okay. Fingers crossed that was a one-off.”
