Tieranniesaur: DIYSCO
Charming second outing from dublin indie quirksters...
Tieranniesaur gave us the wonderful Here Be Monsters in 2011, a shoo-in for any round-up of Ireland’s best of recent years. Now here comes the follow-up. DIYSCO is delightfully diverse and endearingly shambolic.
The Tieranniesaur manifesto is set out with the title track and lead single, a playful funk-infused tune that blends house and disco and celebrates the punk ethos of doing it your own sweet way.
Tieranniesaur sound like a slightly stoned version of The Rapture having a jolly old knees-up with the Tom Tom Club. Annie Tierney and her cohorts can also do charming dream pop, as on ‘Mario Rides the Wave’.
Off-kilter production may dissuade some. Still, if you like your pop messy around the edges, DIYSCO will put a smile on your face.
