New U2 book
The Dublin band is the focus of I'm A Fan.
Hot Press is very much liking I’m A Fan: How I Married U2 Into My Life Without Going To The Altar, Eric Shivver’s touching account of how four Dubliners have profoundly affected an American fortysomething’s life.
Bono and the chaps provide the musical backdrop to Shivvers’ personal travails, which include the break-up of his Johnny Cash-loving parents’ marriage, a battle with depression and his mother being diagnosed as suffering from Alzheimer’s.
There’s also a visit to the Oprah Winfrey Show to see his heroes, lots of planes, trains and automobiling to gigs and general U2-related craziness.
