We Cut Corners' UK Music Video Awards nomination

Director Aoife McArdle is also in with a shout.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 10 Oct 2012

The nominees for the 5th annual UK Music Video Awards were announced earlier this week and there's a couple of Irish names in the mix.

We Cut Corners, who wowed The Button Factory last weekend with a charged HWCH performance, see their 'Pirates Life' promo (directed by Kihek & Adamski) feature in the Best Indie/Rock Video – Budget category. It's up against the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club and Graham Coxon.

Elsewhere, the Aoife McArdle-directed video for Clock Opera's 'Lesson No 7' faces big-name competition from Alt-J, Band Of Skulls, Coldplay, The Kooks and Spiritualized in the category of Best Indie/Rock Video – UK.

The ceremony takes place in London's Leicester Square on November 8, so fingers crossed till then (where practical) for the Irish contingent. Check out the nominated videos below. Extremely deserving, we think you'll find.
