Nite Life 7
The proliferation of San Fran house music may have provided the perfect opportunity for all the major league DJs who wanted to ‘go back to their roots’, but the hype has also helped to highlight some of the scene’s real stars.
The proliferation of San Fran house music may have provided the perfect opportunity for all the major league DJs who wanted to ‘go back to their roots’, but the hype has also helped to highlight some of the scene’s real stars.
UK ex pat DJ Garth is one such figure; apart from running the increasingly experimental Grayhound label, Garth is also a highly adventurous spinner, as this seventh instalment of Nite Life proves. Flowing with dubby effects, slap basslines, half heard vocals the mix includes Nectar’s chiming ‘Bellz’, spoken word dub reggae on Solomonic Sound’s ‘Children Of Israel’ and even some chilled breaks with Rocket’s remix of Animated. Unusual, uplifting and unpredictable, this is the real sound of San Fran.
