It’s all over, including the shouting. Last night, the Sutras accessorised their already good looking CV with the ultimate in band-competition chic: first prize in Bacardi Hot Press Song Of the Year. Battling their way through a contest that began with the submission of hundreds of demos, proceeded through a cruel-but-fair industry-expert weeding-out process, and finished with the final vote brought to the people (the listeners of Today FM’s Pet Sounds, to be exact), The Sutras’ ‘Machine’ is the song of the year 2002. It’s official.
