Recorded during a two-week frenzy in Glasgow, Son Of Evil Reindeer finds Gary, Johnny And Mark of Snow Patrol marshaling Astrid's Neil Payne, Charlie Clarke, Willy Campbell & Gareth Russell; Eva's Jenny Reeve & Sarah Roberts; Mogwai's John Cummings; The Vaselines' Eugene Kelly; Alfie's Lee Gorton, Sam Morris and Ben Dumville; Arab Strap's Aidan Moffat, Malcolm Middleton & Colin MacPherson; Idlewild's Roddy Woomble; Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake; Belle & Sebastian's Richard Colburn, Mick Cooke & Bob Kildea; Cadet's Iain Archer; and the unaligned Stacey Sievewright, Paul Fox and Marcus Mackay.

"After the first (Reindeer Section) album was finished, I started writing more and more songs," Gary Lightbody explains. "They weren't Snow Patrol songs, although I've got an album's worth of those too. I can't quite explain the difference. You just know. And these songs cried out for the 'Section treatment'. As soon as the first album was released, I wanted to record the second one!"
