David Holmes to re-release album
The Come Get It, I Got It album will be re-released with two bonus tracks
Having inked a new distribution deal for his 13 Amp label with Mercury Records, David Holmes & The Free Association re-release their eponymous album on September 15 with two new tracks.
These are a completely re-worked version of 'Wooden Heart' and an update of 'Sugarman', the 1968 Rodriguez gem which Holmes exhumed for last year's Come Get It, I Got It mix album.
"I bought Rodriguez's album, Cold Fact, six years ago for $100 to get hold of 'Sugarman'," Holmer reveals. "I put it on Come Get It… and people loved it, and because of the exposure it got Rodriguez got in touch and said he was alive and well and working as a labourer in Detroit.
"He'd never made a cent out of 'Sugarman' and really wanted to re-do it with us. So we booked a studio in New York and Rodriguez drove down from Detroit because he didn't want to risk taking his guitar on the aeroplane."
Workaholic that he is, our Belfast chum is also taking his entire 13 Amp roster out on tour and finishing the soundtrack to Code 46, the new Michael Winterbottom film co-starring Tim Robbins and Samantha Morton.
