Paddy power: new Irish covers compilation
Glen Hansard takes on Justin and Lisa Hannigan shows Pink how to Get The Party Started with a touch of class: Irish musos show 'em how it's done on Even Better Than The Real thing
Even Better Than The Real is a hilarious compilation of some of Ireland’s finest musicians reinterpreting poptastic chart hits, as featured on Ray D’Arcy's radio show.
Highlights include Damien Dempsey’s heart-wrenching version of The Darkness’ monster, ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’, while Lisa Hannigan teams up with Damien Rice for an ultra sexy rendition of Pink’s ‘Get The Party Started’.
Other pop gems include ‘Cry Me A River’ (Justin Timberlake/Glen Hansard), ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ (Kylie Minogue/Jack L), Sweet Dreams My La-Ex (Rachel Stevens/Picturehouse), and Beyonce’s 'Crazy In Love' performed by Mickey Harte – an ambitious one for our Mick, but very funny indeed.
What’s more all profits from the sale of the CD will be donated to the National Children's Hospital, Tallaght. It's worth it just to hear Mundy sing the lines "Lucky that my breasts are small and humble/So you don't confuse them with mountains" - Shakira (Whenever, Wherever)
