The Bronx

The latest LA outfit to cause a stir on this side of the pond (in the pages of Kerrang! at any rate) The Bronx come with all the right booze, puke ‘n’ drugs credentials to make them instantly appealing to their demographic (i.e. 13-year-old males).
Produced with ex-Guns n Roses axe-man Gilby Clarke at the helm, their debut was by their own account recorded “at various peoples houses at weird hours of the night on loads of uppers, cigarettes and coffee”. That wild huh? At least it goes some way towards explaining the breakneck speed and headlong rush to the finish that appears to be the chief artistic consideration here. (Didn’t their parents warn them of the dangers of too much caffeine?)
That said, if buzz-saw riffs, thundering drums and blood-curdling vocals are your thing, you’ve come to the right place. With little in the way of sonic variety to distinguish between the 11 tracks here, apart from titles like, ‘They Will Kill Us (Without Mercy’), ‘Gun Without Bullets’, ‘Notice of Eviction’ and ‘Heart Attack’, all that is required is to hit the play button and you’re well on your way to a massive headache.
