Clash On Demand
One of the greatest albums of all time is about to become even better.
Christmas comes early for Clash fans with a 25th anniversary edition of London Calling hitting the racks on September 21.
Along with the 19-tracks that originally graced the album, the 2-CD package will include previously unheard London… outtakes, which were unearthed recently in a storage facility belonging to Mick Jones.
Thought to have been erased after they were left off the 1979 opus, the so-called Vanilla Tapes comprise such nearly-made-its as ‘Working And Waiting’, ‘Heart And Mind’ and ‘Canalside Walk’.
“At the time we were constantly moving forward and as soon as something was done we were onto the next thing,” enthuses Paul Simonon. “You can really hear us bouncing ideas around.”
If that’s not enough of a selling-point, the new-look London Calling also boasts a 45-minute documentary assembled by band confidante Don Letts, a lyrics booklet, sleeve notes by Tom Vague and some über-rare Pennie Smith photographs.
