The Olympia Theatre to be refurbished
Dublin's much loved Olympia Theatre has been granted permission to extend and refurbish the premises.
The Olympia Theatre has been granted planning permission to refurbish and extend its Dame Street premises, which is a listed building.
The proposed work includes the restoration of its famous 19th century entrance canopy and sash windows, the interconnection of its two bars, the building of new toilets and storage facilities and – most important of all – the extension of the stalls.
It's good news for the owners, MCD, who had an earlier application turned down in 1999 by An Bord Pleanala on the grounds that it would "seriously injure the amenities of the protected structure."
