Lee 'Scratch' Perry for Dublin
Having had to pull out of 2004's Electric Picnic, Jamaican legend and dub reggae pioneer Lee 'Scratch' Perry is to make his first Irish appearance in two years.
Some call him a genius, others claim he's certifiably insane, he might be both. The important thing is that Lee Perry is one of reggae's greatest innovators, who has worked with Bob Marley & The Wailers, Junior Murvin and The Clash. He's also one of the original creators of dub.
Scratch will play the Red Box on February 19. He'll be backed by a full band, which will feature his dub protégé, The Mad Professor. A regular on the UK dub scene, The Mad Professor was last seen in Ireland in November, playing gigs with Horace Andy.
Tickets priced at €24.50 are available from Ticketmaster and the usual outlets.
