The Night Will Last Forever
There are so many German producers making minimal/dub techno that only the most distinctive sounds stand out: Sender have got it with their visceral funk and, at the other end of the spectrum, Lawrence’s windswept, melodic techno compositions are exceptional.
There are so many German producers making minimal/dub techno that only the most distinctive sounds stand out: Sender have got it with their visceral funk and, at the other end of the spectrum, Lawrence’s windswept, melodic techno compositions are exceptional. This third album features contemplative, neo-orchestral interludes – ‘Leave Me Tomorrow’ could have been written by Michael Nyman – alongside resonating basslines and rhythms inspired by Chicago and re-imagined in a new, experimental context. While tracks like the jacking ‘The Lawn’ are ideal for DJ use, the irresistible charm of ‘Night’ is best appreciated in one never-ending sitting.
