Damien Rice + Snow Patrol confirmed for Live Earth
Damien Rice and Snow Patrol have both been confirmed for the London leg of Al Gore’s Live Earth extravaganza, which takes place in multiple locations on July 7.
Joining them in Wembley Stadium are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Razorlight, Keane, Duran Duran, Black Eyed Peas, Genesis, Beastie Boys, Bloc Party, Corinne Bailey Rae, David Gray, Paolo Nutini, Foo Fighters, James Blunt and John Legend.
In a bid to beat the touts, tickets priced £55/€80.72 are being allocated via an online ballot at www.livenation.co.uk/livearth.
Registration runs from midday on April 13 until midday on April 16, with successful applicants notified on April 18.
Running over a 24-hour period, the SOS (Save Our Selves) initiative will also take place in Sydney’s Aussie Stadium, Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach, Johannesburg’s Cradle of Human Kind, Japan’s Tokyo Stadium, Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl Tower and Giants Stadium in New Jersey. The American leg will feature he Police, Smashing Pumpkins, Roger Waters, Dave Matthews Band, Kanye West, AFI, Akon, Alicia Keys, Bon Jovi, Fall Out Boy, John Mayer, Kelly Clarkson, KT Tunstall, Ludacris, Melissa Etheridge and Rihanna.
Along with TV coverage, there’ll be extensive MSN streaming and other multimedia malarkey to ensure that the anti-global warming message reaches as many people as possible.
