Yoav to play debut Irish show
South African acoustic experimentalist Yoav has announced his first show on our shores.
He plays Crawdaddy on February 6, supported by Canadian folkstress Devon Sproule.
Born in Israel to an architect father and opera singer mother, Yoav moved to South Africa as a child and faced the double obstacles of the Apartheid cultural boycott and his parent's strict disapproval of 'light' music. But after being pulled up on stage to sing at a Crowded House gig at the age of 15 and taking up the guitar as a means of rebellion, he travelled to the US and the UK to find an outlet for his music.
His eclectic debut Charmed And Strange was finally recorded in 2006, showcasing his unique brand of sparse, minimalist acoustic numbers embellished with gentle electronic touches and inventive vocals.
Tickets for his Crawdaddy show are on sale now, priced €10.
