Carlsberg launch comedy carnival
Dublin's Iveagh Gardens are set to host a four day comedy carnival this July.
Earlier today, (Tuesday May 20), Carlsberg and Aiken Promotions announced the launch of Carlsberg Comedy Carnival, set to become one of the most exciting events on the summer festival calendar.
Due to the success of last year’s comedy event an extra day has been added to the Carlsberg Comedy Carnival, which will take place over four days from July 24-27 in the stunning setting of the Iveagh Gardens.
The Carlsberg Comedy Carnival will play host to over 65 International and Irish acts, playing 50 shows over one unique weekend. These will be performed in four magnificent, fully-seated, purpose-built marquees, including the impressive and atmospheric Iveagh Theatre tent, the Comedy Factory (which will feature a bespoke pop-art interior), the intimate Shack and the stunning Magic Mirrors Palace, a Spiegeltent, which is being shipped in from Belgium.
Carlsberg Comedy Carnival will showcase a diverse range of well known, alternative and up-and-coming talent, including Des Bishop, Ardal O'Hanlon, PJ Gallagher, Maeve Higgins and many more. (For more acts performing click here)
It will also feature a lively array of performance artists, musicians, good food and refreshments in a vibrant, carnivalesque surrounding.
Speaking at the launch earlier today, Stephen O’Kelly, Marketing Manager, Carlsberg said, “We’re really looking forward to four exciting and memorable July dates, and are delighted that Des Bishop, PJ Gallagher, Maeve Higgins and many more artists can join us for the launch. The Carlsberg Comedy Carnival featuring a host of Irish and international acts in the spectacular setting of the Iveagh Gardens, will no doubt be one of this summer’s festival highlights.”
Festival Director, Bren Berry, Aiken Promotions said “Aiken Promotions is proud of its close association with live comedy and we are particularly pleased to see Irish comedy continue to thrive on the International stage as well as at home. We are delighted that so many acts from all over the world are so enthusiastic about performing together at the Carlsberg Comedy Carnival and we look forward to seeing them all in this wonderful secret garden. We’ve put together a fantastic, diverse line up to ensure a colourful, unique & fun experience for everyone who comes to any of the 50 shows on the Carnival Programme.”
Tickets go on sale on Monday, May 26 and will be available from www.ticketmaster.ie and all usual outlets. Tickets for the event will be sold on a show-by-show basis.
Carlsberg Comedy Carnival is a strictly over 18s event.
