You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)
Sandra Bernhard: “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)” (Epic)
Whigfield: “Another Day” (Energy/London)
M People: “Sight For Sore Eyes” (Deconstruction)
Janet Jackson: “You Want This” (Virgin)
Sandra Bernhard: “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)” (Epic)
AAAGGGGHHHH!!! painful. Whigfield has come up with a good idea: re-release your number one hit single with a new name. Exactly the same song – five versions of it, no less. More parrot lyrics and, hey presto, another Club Med 18-30 classic. A waste of good plastic.
As far as repetitive dance music goes, M People’s ‘Sight For Sore Eyes’ is a vast improvement on the Whigfield track. Again, similar to their previous releases, but that’s not all bad.
Janet’s single stinks of US Top 10 success. She’s getting bigger and bigger over there but I don’t fancy her chances with ‘You Want This’ on this side of the pond. Dancey, groovy and a sample from ‘Love Child’ by the Supremes doesn’t go astray. But what does it all signify?
Describing the human wonder that is Sandra Bernhard is just not possible in such a limited space. Is there anything this woman will not do? All I can say here is that ‘You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)’ features re-mixes by Andy Bell, and it’s fairly crap
