Honeycomb Moons
Cork Quietists Deliver Pastoral Love Vibe
Honeycomb Moons is a gorgeous and evocative record. Spectres of The Beatles (‘If You Want To’) and Nick Drake (‘Devil & Me’) dance between the cracks of this lovingly recorded debut and it’s hard not to be charmed by frontman Anthony Noonan’s gentle delivery. Throughout the 12 tunes, the Cork-based quartet conjure images of rolling fields, crashing waves and lazy love affairs with ease, needing only a hushed vocal, drums, bass and guitar for accompaniment. If being quiet really is the new being loud, then it shouldn’t take long for Armoured Bear to reach the top of the mountain with this assured record.
