Devastor
CHICAGO NATIVES’ ROCKIST RUBBISH
By all accounts Devastator by Chicago natives Catfish Haven should be a belter of an album. Their singer has a voice like sand and glue, the press release references Kiss, ZZ Top and Lou Reed, and their hot pink album cover featuring a pair of pins is the right side of sexy. But unfortunately the record is as limp as a leftover sausage. The guitars are buried in the mix, the production is amateur at best and classic rock references are way off the mark. Not a single song makes much of a mark and ultimately they come off sounding as bland as a lentil-flavoured bag of crisps.
