Pirate Bay takeover investigated
Buyer suspected of dodgy dealings
It's another run-in with the law for Swedish file-sharing behemoth Pirate Bay - but can this one by viewed as a case of the Robin Hood-style little guys taking on the might of the big corporations?
The Swedish Economic Crimes Authority is investigating the planned acquisition of Pirate Bay, the largest bit-torrent site in the world, by a Swedish advertising company, Global Gaming Factory.
It seems shares in Global Gaming Factory went way up a week before it had publicly announced plans to acquire the hugely popular file-sharing site.
Trading in Global Gaming factory shares has been suspended on one Swedish stock exchange, AktieTorget, over suggestions the company does not have enough money to complete the Pirate Bay acquisition.
