The Savage Eye
The third series has been running for a few weeks, and it is pretty good. Last night's episode was very strong. The lads from Foil, Arms and Hog were excellent. It's about time they got some TV on RTE.

McSavage was good on Brendan O'Connor on Saturday night. Not sure that his old man will be happy with the reference to the fact that he was 'as honest as a politician can be' - or words to that effect!

I missed that. Will check out the iPlayer thingy. Dave didn't get invited on the Late Late so. Ryan Tubridy is his cousin. McSavage had a bit last night about kicking him up the arse... and there was one for everyone in the audience.

Actually I saw him on The Late Late not so long ago! Gets a fair bit of oul' RTE coverage, so he does. Does he have a programme on there, or something?

he was the warm up for Pat Kenny on the late late wasn't he?
 From : skennedy Posted : 28/03/12 at 11:31
There are a number of stand-ups that get to do regular audience warm-ups in RTE. Dave McSavage must have been one at some stage, and may still be.

I actually saw him being interviewed by Ryan Tubridy. Which was a bit peculiar, since he too is part of the Andrews dynasty!
 From : tricky Posted : 28/03/12 at 13:12
what's tubridy's connection to the Andrews clan?

ah who gives a bollix, it's fuckin hilarious. not sure if the satire hits the mark exactly (that he is who he is adds another level of irony, if i understood postmodernism i'd say this was it) but the writing is so good you don't notice how good it is. very good comedy writing is a lot like well-hung wall-paper, in my opinion. you've to look very close to see the joins. obviously he's having a lot of help with it, cause he's fairly thick, but the performance is excellent. will stand the test of time. cunt.

Good gag, Cyber. You should be on the telly...
 From : tricky Posted : 02/04/12 at 16:21

 From : bigtom Posted : 02/04/12 at 16:57
me talking out me bollix again
 From : number10 Posted : 03/04/12 at 00:10
People who talk bollix usually contrive to do it out of their holes...

Well, Bigtom.. I read your shite and agreed with it.
Usually I like this show because it has a very good cringe factor, but aside from the radio presenter whom I totally get, I've found the new series to be a bit blah.. maybe dated too, or late 'past it' gags that seem like a bit of a waste of time, eg. the Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh character.. agus the mother of Ireland and her housebound 'it' who are really getting old and boring, IMHO.

Poppycock: "Well, Bigtom.. I read your shite and agreed with it."

As the doctor said to the actress: "You can learn a lot about a person from their stools."

mcsavage seems to be repeating himself, I might just have to write a better show to rival him.
 From : bigtom Posted : 24/04/12 at 17:34
ah you'd have to say that was good
 From : tricky Posted : 25/04/12 at 11:58
