After much speculation surrounding the details of their world tour, U2 have revealed Vertigo D-day as March 28 at San Diego Sports Arena.

Kings of Leon have been confirmed as the support act for the first leg of the North American tour, which is expected to finish in Boston towards the end of May, according to billboard.com.

At this stage it is unknown which band will support the 30-date European tour, with long-circulating rumours that U2 will choose fellow countrymen The Thrills or Snow Patrol.

Full details of the tour are expected to be announced next Monday, January 24, with North American fans able to purchase tickets from January 29.
