Cracking live record showcases the many sides of Lizzy

This album, culled from 1977’s Bad Reputation tour, is testament to what an incredible live band Lizzy really were. ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’, introduced as their current single, is playfully radiant and features a luminous saxophone solo from the recently deceased John Earle. It’s also one of the rare moments when Scott Gorham takes care of soloing duties, most of which were done during his tenure by Brian Robertson. Elsewhere, a soaring ‘Cowboy Song’ segues into a euphoric ‘The Boys Are Back In Town’; ‘Don’t Believe A Word’ rocks like a mother; and Phil introduces the gang and leads an ebullient sing-a-long on ‘Baby Drives Me Crazy’.
There are also several tracks not featured on that classic Lizzy live document Live And Dangerous, each showcasing a different side to Phil Lynott: ‘Soldier Of Fortune’ (the mythical romantic leader), ‘Opium Trail’ (the addict) and ‘Me And The Boys’ (the macho man). Wonderful.
