Hey Ya!

Essentially an Andre 3000 solo track, ‘Hey Ya!’ sees hip hop’s most anti-bling rule breaker embark on a deliriously uptempo mish mash of soul, gospel, funk and pop.

Essentially an Andre 3000 solo track, ‘Hey Ya!’ sees hip hop’s most anti-bling rule breaker embark on a deliriously uptempo mish mash of soul, gospel, funk and pop, with punchy acoustic guitars and a serotonin-soaked chorus. “Don’t want to meet your daddy, Just want you in my Caddy, Don’t want to meet your momma, Just want to make you come-a”, he professes. Andre, we’re already there.

So Fresh, So Clean

The latest cut from the excellent Stankonia to be culled as a single, ‘So Fresh, So Clean’ doesn’t have the toe-tapping, singalongability of ‘Miss Jackson’ but it is a wonderfully funked-up, soulful slice of modern hip-hop that avoids the genre’s more tiresome clichés.

Stankonia

Stankonia is staking its claim to sovereignty. A geographically elusive and psychedelically warped mental landmass, this is no playa-haters’ paradise, but the place “from which all funky things come.” Not Monaghan town, in other words.
