Proof that the growing collection of musical mavericks doesn’t just exist within the capital. Newmarket trio Stanley Super 800 are an eclectic bunch to say the least, throwing in electronica, sixties style beat pop and even a snatch of folky guitar. They’re let down a touch by an obvious lack of recording budget, but it’s all very encouraging. Monaghan’s TRCOT3SOF (aka Hugh McKenna) pitches up with a picture of the crucifixion on the front cover, dresses like an Middle Eastern terrorist and is so unequivocally out there that this could be either genius and insanity – indeed more likely to be a meeting of the two.
