RTE 2fm have just announced their new weekend schedule, which sees Dave Fanning return to his midnight slot on the station.
RTÉ 2fm DJs Jenny Greene, Jenny Huston, Dan Hegarty, Cormac Battle, Mr Spring and Dave Fanning will be fronting a new look evening schedule announced today by 2fm for weekends.
"The new look evening schedule features different, dedicated music strands each Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening as the DJs give fans their personal guides to the music maze and their music passions" a 2fm spokesperson told hotpress.com. "The music strands featured include the best of new rock and rock anthems, progressive dance and dance classics, indie and alternative music."
The weekend includes a brand new dance programme, Electric Disco, at 6pm on Saturday evenings with RTÉ 2fm’s newest DJ, Jenny Green.
“It's the new soundtrack to Saturday nights," says Jenny. "We've got you covered with the biggest tunes, mash-ups, indie-pop remixes, dance classics. We'll also be taking a look at some of the big gigs of the night and upcoming dance events, chatting to listeners on air and finding out what's going on in their town for the night, not to mention rewarding the odd gem with the all important 'free stuff'! It’ll be three hours of pre-club tune-age every Saturday night from 6pm to 9pm!"
There’s also a new slot for Jenny Huston’s The Annex. Now, at the new time of 7pm on Sundays evenings, Jenny will continue to play her favourite rock anthems from The Clash and The Who to Oasis and Blur. Jenny H remarks: “Summer’s here and the weather’s looking good so why not get the barbeque going, invite your friends around and blast up the volume for The Annex. I’ll be playing the best rock sounds for your back yard party. Just what you need on a Sunday evening after a heavy weekend.”
RTÉ 2fm also plan to broadcast more live studio sessions and festival recordings from across Europe, with Jenny Huston presenting at 9.30pm on Friday and Cormac Battle at the same time on Sunday. Over the summer RTÉ 2fm, and the trial digital radio stations, will also broadcast from Oxegen, Planet Love and Electric Picnic.
