Poptopia at Electric Picnic adds Welsh and Cosby
Trainspotting author as well as Stradbally owner to appear.
Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh and Stradbally owner Thomas Cosby will be making appearances in POPTOPIA at Electric Picnic, as part of the live TV show Transmission Panti. There will also be Electro Bingo hosted by Mr Pussy, along with Jerry Bouthier (Kitsuné, Boombox), Dark Room Notes, Neosupervital, Bitches With Wolves and Veda Beaux Reves all previewing new music.
POPTOPA aims to blur the distinction between music, theatre and performance art. Designed by avant-gardist Niall Sweeney, this year’s aesthetic is inspired by the following ambitious vision:
“POPTOPIA is a construct of a post-revolutionary society, a hyper architecture of desire and disorientation. Seemingly floating above ground, the population of our distorted Popopolis will discard the shackles of the bourgeois metropolis. Memory will become irrelevant as all perspectives are distorted. Fantastical humans will dance from one dynamic zone to another in search of new sensations, moving to the beat of a glittering grid.”
Quite an alternative for anyone who fancies a break from the music stages then!
