Aslan's Christy Dignam hospitalised

Pneumonia bout grinds Aslan tour to a hault, including Ambassador headliner

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 31 Jan 2003

Aslan singer Christy Dignam is in Blanchardstown Hospital recovering from pneumonia.

Talking to hotpress.com, bandmate Billy McGuinness reveals: "It's nothing serious, although he has been in there a week and is feeling pretty wiped out. We reckon it's down to him coming off stage sweating and sitting round in the cold dressing room without his shirt on. He doesn't drink, so he's not like the rest of us with alcohol in our bloodstream to keep us warm!"

Although Christy's expected to be out of hospital next week, Aslan have pulled all their upcoming gigs including a high-profile Ambassador headliner.

"This is my first weekend off in 20 years," McGuinness jokes, "and I've no idea what I'm going to do with myself! No, we're going to take it easy for the next month or so and then give 'em hell!"
