Billie Holiday meets Elvis at special Sugar Club Gig
Renowned Elvis tribute act, Kevin Doyle will play with the Collette Quartet and other acts as part of a special concert on July 2.
‘Caught in a trap” in the ‘Summertime’ with nothing to do? Cheesy song references aside, this is a gig you want to get yourself along too if you are in any way jazzily inclined. A talented troupe of acts will put their heads together for a very special concert on July 2. The gig which will take place in the Sugar Club will see the Collette Quartet, the Graceland Gospel Choir, Kevin Doyle, The Way It Was Orchestra and the Divas of Jazz and Soul collaborate for an evening of Jazz, Latin, Gospel and Soul music.
The concert is in aid of the Temple Street Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Unit so this evening of old school crooners will be all for a good cause.
Colette Quartet who are organizing the event are known for their reditions of old jazz classics by Billie Holliday, Frank Sinatra as well as some of their own material. Divas of Jazz and Soul are a quintet of femme fatale songstresses, while Kevin Doyle is acclaimed for his likeness to Elvis Presley. With his talents taking him to the Point, with the original PCB Band and the Jordanaires. Kevin performed on the ‘Better than the Real Thing’ Records with The Way It Was Orchestra.
Tickets for this night old style blues and soul cost €15 and are available by calling 086 3261965 or dropping a line to [email protected]
