Bobby Womack given the all clear
The singer is cancer free.
A nice bit of news to start the week with – legendary soul singer Bobby Womack is over his cancer ordeal. Womack, 68, underwent surgery to have a tumour removed over the weekend and the tumour proved benign.
From Womack's Facebook page: 'We're delighted to announce that Bobby Womack has successfully undergone surgery for suspected colon cancer. A tumour was removed last night which turned out to be cancer free. We wish him all the best in his recovery from the operation. Thank you for all your kind messages and support'.
Womack comes to Ireland this summer, performing on a bill that includes Van Morrison and Tom Jones at Marlay Park on August 25.
His new album The Bravest Man In The Universe, his first of original material since 1994, is out on June 11.
