Bruce Springsteen to reissue Darkness On the Edge of Town
The Boss will go one step further than other high-profile reissues in recent times, by selecting numerous outtakes and even re-recording passages.
First released in 1978, the album was not a commercial barnstormer for The Boss, with singles such as 'Badlands' and 'Prove It All Night', however the accompanying tour is remembered as one of the E Street Band's best. Songs left off the final track list also received high-profile cover treatment, such as Patti Smith's reworked version of 'Because the Night' and 'Fire' which was a hit for the Pointer sisters.
"We put ten or so outtakes on the 1998 tracks box set, and we have since found ten more," said guitarist Steve Van Zandt.
Sure to compete with the record breaking success of The Rolling Stones reissue of Exit on Main ST. earlier this year, it is expected that the reissue of Darkness On the Edge of Town will be out in time for Christmas 2010.
