Cashier No. 9 revved up for Glasgowbury
The Belfast band are honoured to be headlining the Small But Massive stage at the festival in Draperstown, Co Derry on Saturday night.
It has been a busy summer of touring for the five-piece since the release of critically acclaimed debut album To The Death Of Fun but the lads are looking forward to entertaining the Glasgowbury revellers.
“We're busy rehearsing this week,” said drummer Phil Duffy.
“Normally we're used to playing 30 minute sets so we're getting prepared for an hour long slot, we're having to dust off a few of the old ones. They'll all be getting a run out including ‘When Jackie Shone’ and ‘42 West Avenue’, it's going to be an hour full of hits.”
“Myself and Danny (Todd) first played the festival back in 2002 so we've been around for a large part of it and slowly but surely we've been climbing up the bill over the years.
But it's an absolute honour among all of us to be considered as headliners of Glasgowbury this year, we can't wait, it's going to be something special.”
Frontman Daniel Todd was also eagerly anticipating the headline show when Hot Press caught up with him on Tuesday in Whelan’s, Dublin when it was announced that Cashier No. 9 would be one of the acts taking part in Arthur’s Day 2011.
“I’m really excited about Glasgowbury next week. It should be good. We just got a record out there two or three weeks ago so it’s been kind of busy since so it’s all good and exciting,” he said.
Mojo Fury, A Plastic Rose and The Answer will also be taking to the different stages at Glasgowbury.
Tickets are still available for the festival from HMV and www.hmvtickets.com. For more information, check out http://www.glasgowbury.com/glasgowbury-music-festival-ticket-info/
