Celebration time, come on
U2 to be given a special tribute by a stellar cast of musicians at the 45th Annual Grammy Awards later this month
U2 are to be given the tribute treatment at the 45th Grammy Awards which take place in New York on February 23.
That's according to Noel Gallagher who told hotpress.com today that Bono has personally invited him to take part in the Madison Square Garden shindig.
"He's trying to get me over to New York to do some stuff but we're going to be busy with the Brits, which we've been nominated for," Noel reveals. "Some people are getting up to sing some U2 songs and he said, 'Do you want to come and do one?' Fortunately/unfortunately we've been short-listed for something or rather that we'd better bloody win now 'cause I'd love a good piss up in New York!"
The Grammys might be a non-starter, but any chance of covering a U2 song in the future?
"I would," he resumes. "I don't think anyone else in the band is a major fan but I am though. There are quite a few off Rattle & Hum that are quite good and I love 'All I Want Is You'. Yeah, I'd have a go."
Noel Gallagher is subjected to a Mixed Grill-ing in the February 27 issue of Hot Press.
