Coronas on top of Indie Chart this week

The Dubliners' Tony Was an Ex-Con is at the top spot, while there are new entries from M.I.A., The Coral and Arcade Fire

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 16 Jul 2010

The Coronas have climbed from No. 5 to the top of the charts this week with Tony Was an Ex-Con. The foursome can also celebrate the fact that their previous release Heroes or Ghosts is also on the up - it moves from No. 12 to No. 8 this week.

Last week's No. 1, Cathy Davey's The Nameless, is now at No. 6, while London rapper Example's debut Won't Go Quietly, which was No. 2 last week, is now down to No. 4.

There are new entries from M.I.A., whose latest release Maya has gone straight in at No. 5, The Coral (Butterfly House is at No. 10), and Arcade Fire. Funeral has entered the chart at No. 19, making Hot Press wonder whether new album The Suburbs might be hot on its heels! Read our interview with the band's Jeremy Gara in the new issue, out now!
