Daniel Johnston - Dublin gig plus exhibition
April 3, 2010 will see Daniel Johnston and the BEAM Orchestra play Vicar Street where there will also be a simultaneous exhibition of his drawings.
The exhibition is for ticket holders only. Doors open at 7.30pm and are on sale now at €27, plus booking fee, from www.ticketmaster.ie , Sound Cellar and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
Artist and songwriter Johnston has inspired hundreds of artists, including Tom Waits, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Beck and David Bowie. He has established a devoted following for his music and visual art, both of which communicate a rare creative independence. The exhibition will present over forty of his drawings alongside early tape covers and rare 7-inch record sleeves.
BEAM is an ensemble of Dutch musicians from contemporary music, pop and jazz who have reworked and arranged some of Johnston’s songs. They will perform some of them with Daniel himself and some on their own.
