Daniel Johnston announces Dublin show

Whelan’s is the venue on July 27 for An Evening With Daniel Johnston and Friends, a special gig that finds our titular hero joined by Sparklehorse’s Mark Linkous, Yo La Tengo’s James McNew, Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake, Half Japanese’s Bob Sluggett and Scoutt Niblett who’s nobody’s boss but her own.
Tickets priced €23.50 go on sale on Thursday May 1.
Immortalised in the 2006 documentary, The Devil And Daniel Johnston, the 47-year-old has just received some unexpected publicity courtesy of a character in the Forgetting Sarah Marshall rom-com donning one of his trademark “Hi, how are you?” frog t-shirts.
