All roads lead to Belfast on April 4 as that most cult of songwriters Daniel Johnston plays the Empire Music Hall.

From the humblest of homemade, lo-fi cassette beginnings, Johnston has become a much-celebrated figure who includes Beck, TV On The Radio, Tom Waits, eels, Bright Eyes, Teenage Fanclub and the late Kurt Cobain among his admirers.

Make sure to check out 2005’s The Devil And Daniel Johnston documentary, a painfully honest appraisal of his music and ongoing struggle with bipolar disorder.

There’s no Dublin date yet, but we remain hopeful.
