Duke Special confirms single release and tour

Newly signed to Universal, the Duke will release his new 'Sweet Sweet Kisses' single next month, followed by a nationwide tour taking in no less than 12 counties.

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 08 Sep 2008

Duke Special celebrated signing to Universal Music Ireland last week by performing a special set in the company's Dublin 2 office.

The first fruits of the liaison will be 'Sweet Sweet Kisses', the lead single from his I Never Thought The Day Would Come album, which is due on October 17. Ryan Suffern who was responsible for the animated clips that accompanied 'Freewheel' and 'Last Night I Nearly Died' is currently shooting a video for it.

The collection's other standouts include 'Diggin' An Early Grave' and the Bernard Butler-produced 'Those Proverbs We Made In The Winter'.

Citizen of the world that he is, the recording was done in three very different places – Champaign, Illinois; Cullybackey, Antrim; and Wapping, London – with Libertines and Klaxons man Nick Terry doing the mixing.

The Duke has also confirmed shows in Electric Avenue, Waterford (November 20 & 21); Dinn Ri, Carlow (22); An Tain, Dundalk (23); An Grianan, Letterkenny (24); Olympia, Dublin (25); Dolan's, Limerick (26); Opera House, Cork (28); Clarence, Sligo (29); Royal Theatre, Castlebar (30); Black Box, Galway (December 1); St. George's Market, Belfast (2) and Nerve Centre, Derry (3).
