John Martyn Tribute Festival returns
The Kilkenny festival is back for its second year.
Following last year’s highly successful inaugural bash, the John Martyn Tribute Festival returns to Carroll’s Market Yard, Thomastown, County Kilkenny on September 15 and 16.
All proceeds go to the John Martyn Trust Fund, which helps promote, encourage and financially assist talented newcomers.
“John had a keen interest in new music and was a huge supporter of emerging musicians,” says event organiser Eva Lynch. “It was a great buzz for so many acts to see him come through the doors in Thomastown.”
Lynch and her team are promising a bill to match – if not surpass – last year’s celebration, which featured Glen Hansard, Paddy Casey, The Man Whom, Mick Hanly, Iarla O’Lionard, Ultan Conlon, Kevin Power and Colin Scanlon. Stay tuned to hotpress.com for details.
