The maestro will say his farewell to Ireland before retiring from international touring.
World famous Italian film composer Ennio Morricone announced today that he will perform a farewell concert at Dublin’s 3Arena on Saturday 23 September.
The Maestro says: “I have been moved by the passion for my music and the appreciation shown by Irish audiences on previous visits. I must play one final show in Dublin before I retire. I expect this to be an emotional and very special evening for all".
Ennio Morricone has composed over 500 scores for cinema and television as well as over 100 absolute music works and is the only film composer in history to have received the honorary Academy Award for his lifetime achievement. Highlights include his scores for Once Upon a Time in the West, One Upon a time in America, A Fistful of Dollars, The Untouchables, The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, The Best Offer, etc. Morricone’s score for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly holds the number two position in the Top 200 ranking of best film soundtracks ever composed.
Ennio Morricone has been nominated for a further six Oscars. In 2016, Morricone received his first Academy Award for his score to Quentin Tarantino's film The Hateful Eight.
His latest announcement follows a hugely successful European arena tour last year, which featured an unforgettable sold out 3Arena date marking his 60-year anniversary as a professional composer and conductor.
