Madonna's Re-Invention begins with a bang
Critics were almost unanimous in their approval last night as Madonna's Re-Invention Tour kicked off at the Great Western Forum in Los Angeles...
Taking to the stage in a glittery basque, the 45-year-old's opening salvo comprised 'Vogue', 'Nobody Knows Me', 'Frozen' and 'American Life', which prompted a change into combat gear and the George Bush-baiting sound of bombs exploding.
Much had been made in advance of the 'Old Sparky' set-piece, but instead of flashing and smoking the electric chair was tamely lowered onto the stage.
With Tom Cruise and Christina Aguilera looking on from the front-rows, Madge bought the show to a close with a cover of John Lennon's 'Imagine', 'Into The Groove', 'Papa Don't Preach', 'Crazy For You', 'Music' and the song that started it all for her in 1983, 'Holiday'.
