Gallery X is the spot to be from Friday
An Exhibition of vibrant, Esoteric and Arcane art opens in Gallery X in Dublin this weekend. From opening night on Friday 9 from 6pm, with English writer, actor and producer Graham Duff, it runs until September 24, and will remain open from 6 to 11pm on September 16 for Culture Night 2016.
The whole thing is presented by ‘Cabinet Of The Solar Plexus’, a web-based center of esoteric and arcane art, and curated by its founder and manager, Dublin based artist Dolorosa de la Cruz. Promising to exhibit a wide and colourful variety of explorative pieces, deep-rooted in the supernatural and the unraveling of the human psyche, this inter-cultural and inter-generational exhibition intends to break down barriers, both spiritual and cultural, and facilitate deep reflection and self-exploration.
In the past, the mystical world has been widely shunned and unexplored, due to a fear of the unknown, the uncanny and the unnatural – and goodness, we know the Irish as a race are still slow to open umbrellas indoors or walk under ladders. Esoteric and Arcane art represented something deep and sometimes unexplainable - so we ignore or shy away from it.

It's also the first time many legendary figures will be showcased here, such as Austin Osman Spare, Hans Bellmer, and Leonor Fini. Stemming from the same occult traditions that bred many geniuses admired today such as our own W. B. Yeats, Maya Deren, Harry Smith, Alan Moore, and many many more, this enchanting Esoteric art is an invitation to explore and reflect on the self and the world we live in – and best of all, admission is free, so there's no excuse for not poking your nose in!
