Marlay Park security measures announced

Garda Superintendent Peter Duff has announced details of “heightened security” at the upcoming Marlay Park concerts and the David Guetta sold-out, 22,000-capacity gig there on August 24 in particular.
Speaking at a press conference, he said that around 400 officers will be at the Guetta show, a number of them in plain clothes.
Sniffer dogs are to be employed, presumably to stop drugs being taken on to the site, and stringent checks will be made to ensure that no one under the age of 17 is admitted. MCD have indicated that under-17s who’ve obtained tickets can get a full refund from the point of purchase.
Anyone appearing to be intoxicated will be refused entry and alcohol being consumed in the vicinity to Marlay Park confiscated.
“The Guetta gig is in essence dance music on trial here,” an industry source tells Hot Press. “If it goes off without a hitch, the Swedish House Mafia will be regarded as an unfortunate one-off. If there’s trouble, you’re unlikely to get any major outdoor ‘electric music’ events for the foreseeable future.”
