Mike Scott joins the ranks of guest radio DJs
The Waterboys mainman has already got one appearance under his belt on 2fm's Celebrity Sunday slot, which runs from 5pm to 7pm.
"We were really happy with it," a 2fm insider told Hot Press. "Mike has such a vast knowledge of music and such a passion for it. It really comes across."
Further shows have now been lined up, for the next two Sundays, June 13 and June 20, with Scott promising many surprises and a taster of some new Waterboys work.
"I love doing it," Scott told Hot Press. "As well as playing my favourite music, I showcase Irish acts that I've come across. Also, last week had a collaboration between me and The Jimmy Cake."
Mike Scott is currently living in Ireland. The Waterboys enjoyed a very successful run at The Abbey Theatre with 'An Appointment With Mr. Yeats', for which Scott put the poetry of William Butler Yeats to music. The show returns at the Grand Canal Theatre on November 7 as part of an Irish tour that also takes in dates in Belfast, Wexford, Killarney and Castlebar.
Mike Scott will also make an appearance at the WB Yeats Summer School, playing music and talking about the poet and his work at the Hawks Well Theatre on July 28.
