More accolades for Philip Lynott Exhibition

There was a great buzz of excitement at The Philip Lynott Exhibition in Stephen's Green Shopping Centre today when former Lizzy guitarist Eric Bell arrived to have a look

The Hot Press Newsdesk, 19 Apr 2011

Eric was one of the original members of Thin Lizzy alongside Philip Lynott, Brian Downey and Eric Wrixon. He played on the band's first three albums – and was the man who coined the wonderfully distinctive guitar hook that made Lizzy's version of 'Whiskey In The Jar' so memorable. Eric was gigging elsewhere on the night of the launch of the exhibition – and so this was his first visit.

He was clearly hugely impressed, having spent a considerable time looking through the exhibition.

"I found it really overwhelming," he said. "The amount of memorabilia collected is amazing. A brilliant exhibition. Phil would have loved it.

"I was incredibly impressed with Philip's school report!" he added. Bell was clearly taken with the exhibition, which includes an interview with Eric talking about the Philip Lynott he knew – alongside interviews with the likes of Bono, Joe Elliott, Brian Downey, Imelda May, Damien Dempsey – and loads more...

Also visiting the exhibition for the first time today was singer-songwriter Eleanor McEvoy, who posted a reaction on her Twitter account.

"Just visited Phil Lynott Exhibition in Stephen's Green Shopping Centre run by @hotpress," she said. "Terrific and an absolute must 4 all Lizzy / Lynott fans out there."

McEvoy announced an Australian tour yesterday, which opens in Tanuda, in South Australia on Friday, May 27 and winds up at the National Celtic Festival, Portarlington, Victoria on June 13.
