Saucy Monky continue their ascent in the US
Saucy Monky have scored a UK deal following their recent success on US radio
Saucy Monky have reached a significant landmark in the US, with their new single 'Disco Ball (Boulevard Remix)' hitting the airplay charts for the first time.
The single debuted at No.62 in the national Triple A charts – one of the most important indicators of breakthrough potential in the American chart system.
‘Disco Ball’ is featured on the US version of the band’s acclaimed Turbulence album, which is released via the Warners affiliated 429 Records in the States.
The band have also finalised a deal for the UK with the Measured Records label that is also home to the Cosmic Rough Riders. A single has been slated for UK release on September 12, though no track has yet been chosen.
The launch of Turbulence in the UK is set to follow, on September 26, with the UK version featuring an additional track – most likely a remix of ‘Flicker’ from Monky’s debut mini album Celebrity Trash – bringing the total number of tracks to a whopping fifteen.
“We're very excited about the positive response from American radio” guitarist Cynthia Catania told Hot Press, “and we can't wait to see what happens via Measured Records in the UK. They’ve a great team there and we feel so lucky to have hooked up with such supportive people.
“We plan to celebrate the release of Turbulence in the UK by touring England, Wales and Scotland in October, and of course, we're
planning to visit Ireland and gig there, as well, on the same trip!”
In other Saucy developments, the band had songs placed on US TV shows Made (MTV) Veronica Mars (UPN network) and Drake And Josh (Nickleodeon) – all designed to further boost the profile of one of the hottest rising talents in the US in 2005.
