Saw Doctors have their eye on the Christmas #1 spot
Their cover of 'Downtown' is riding high in the charts...
The battle for the coveted Christmas number one spot is at fever pitch with The Saw Doctors sitting pretty at #2 in the mid-week Irish singles chart. They face stiff competition from X Factor winners Little Mix and the unholy union that is Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber but with the official Hot Press backing, we're sure the Doctors can reach the top of the mountain just in time for Christmas.
Their cover of 'Downtown' features original performer Petula Clark, now 79, on backing vocals. Filmed in Shop Street, Galway, it's the perfect anthem for a rousing Christmas.
Guitarist Leo Moran says, “Petula wanted to be involved, and we got her into a London studio for two hours at the end of August on a stopover between Los Angeles and Geneva, where she now lives”.
The song is out now on iTunes, priced 99 cents.
